Hotel review - Aleenta Phuket Resort and Spa Part 1 - Arrival

Location: Phuket, Thailand

Note: This article was written base on experience of staying in Aleenta Resort and Spa Phuket's Pool Villa. The following info is important to you because it tells you on which month we stayed, and the price relative to the amount of time between the date of stay to the date of booking. You may experience higher or lower price at different months/seasons and if you book further or nearer to the date of stay.

We booked on:     September 2014
We stayed on:      October 2014
We paid in total:  THB27,659.50 (~RM2771) (tax included) @ Pool Villa, 2 persons, 2 nights, breakfast inclusive

The overview of the whole hotel experience can be accessed from here: Thailand - Aleenta Phuket Resort and Spa

My wife and I are a stingy couple, as our friends readily attest. We save as much as we can, splurge only occasionally or for celebration. She chanced upon a recommendation of Aleenta Phuket (not sure from who or where) but the price tag for this luxurious hotel at a private beach was really hefty. The mesmerizing and attractive photos she viewed online could only be left in cyberspace. Things did a positive turn when I got my hands on some travel vouchers. Since those vouchers could not be cashed in, we decided that we should just splurge on, using the vouchers to cover our expenses.

An infinity pool stretching to the sea and lounge that seemed to float are one of our best memories of Aleenta Phuket.

If one were to check out the rave reviews and attractive amateur photos, one could really gravitate towards Aleenta Phuket. The keyword I emphasize here is amateur photos – professional photos are edited to promote the client hotelier in the best light but amateurs just snap whatever they like. If even amateurs could provide spectacular photos, there could only be 2 reasons – either all of them are professionals or the hotel is truly as marvelous as it advertised. Upon arrival, we concluded that it is the latter reason, and the conclusion comes with our jaws dropped.

Bartending

It must be pointed out prior to continuing my lengthy post that despite it being called Aleenta Phuket, the hotel is technically not located on the namesake island. Geographically Phuket is the island, separated from the mainland by a water barrier that is more river than strait. The hotel featured here is located on the mainland area named Phang Nga and it requires one to cross over from the international airport on the island side.

Upon arrival we were pleasantly surprised by the exuded opulence. Instead of the usual ground floor location, we climbed a short flight of stairs to arrive at the lobby. It was a cavernous expanse with high ceilings and spacious furniture arrangement, and our feeling upon arrival was accentuated by the postcard perfect view from the lobby overlooking the villas and the sandy beach. The attendants were polite and all smiles. It was a perfect start to our stay.

Basking under the sun

A really private beach, just for guests of Aleenta Phuket.

Cloudy skies to the west... no sunsets...

The lonely coconut waiting for the tides

Lounge chairs for beachgoers

Warning!

Soft lounges on the beach for enjoying the sun and sea

Looking back at The Edge, a restaurant cum bar right by the beach. Those black clad items are furniture covered from the rain that just passed by before this shot.

Beauty

We were led to our villa after checking in, stepping past ponds of lotus and swimming carps, the atmosphere soothing and relaxing. Each villa was fenced individually, a private compound within the already private hotel grounds. The attendant pushed open the wooden gates just like you would see in most advertisements (maybe they have practiced this often?) and we were led to a garden of our own, a vast swimming pool taking center stage. After she introduced the amenities of the villa, we were then left to our own to settle after an enduring trip.

Even the ashtray's sand was molded with their logo...

Shady day

There are lofts at the higher ground, with better view of the sea.

Going to our Pool Villa to relax after a long trip. See you in the next post!
